THE CATEGORIES

The Daily Telegraph Norwich Union School Sports Awards will take place in 2006, with awards in the following categories:

1. State school of the Year
Judging panel will choose a state school - which must not be a specialist sports college - whose staff make best use of its facilities and time to deliver sport for all.

2. Independent school of the Year
Judging panel will choose an Independent school whose staff make best use of its facilities and time to deliver sport for all.

3. Specialist Sports College of the Year
Judging panel will choose a specialist sports college whose staff make best use of its facilities and time to deliver sport for all.

4. Student of the Year (male)
The pupil will be chosen on their own success, which could be in an individual or team sport, or be through facilitating the success of others.

5. Student of the Year (female)
The pupil will be chosen on their own success, which could be in an individual or team sport, or be through facilitating the success of others.

6. School Sport Teacher of the Year
This can be a coach, any teacher who takes a team, or an individual who most supports a team with their help.

7. School team of the year
School team in any sport who have shown not only the ability to win as a group but also to make best use of school numbers and resources.

8. Special Award: Ambassador for School Sport
An award for the school which best demonstrates the reasons for The Daily Telegraph's commitment to 'School Sport Matters'. A school which goes out of its way, regardless of staff and pupil numbers, or resources, to make sport an integral part of school life.

9. Disability Award
Awarded to a pupil, team, or school which has shown outstanding achievements in sport.

10. Contribution to School Sport Awarded to an individual, team, or school demonstrating an outstanding contribution to School Sport.
